Fallingwater, one of Frank Lloyd Wright's most acclaimed works was designed for Kaufmann Department Store Owner Edgar J. Kaufmann. The three-story residence with multiple terraces cantilevered from a chimney sits above a waterfall in the Laurel Highlands area of Pennsylvania (1935). It symbolizes Wright's concept of organic architecture which is the harmonious union of art and nature. In 1963, Kaufmann's son deeded the house to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy which turned the residence into a museum.
