The Ennis House designed by Wright in 1923 and built by his son Lloyd in 1924 resembles the look of a Mayan Temple and was the last monumental and complex of the four textile block homes Wright designed in the Los Angeles area. Wright developed the "textile block construction" building system which interlocked individual concrete blocks with steel rods to showcase textured "fabric" for the walls. It visually unified the home with the hillside to create the impression that the home was a man-made extension of the landscape.
